John R. Hastings, Introduction: "For over twenty years my partner, Charlotte Murray, and I have been creating artist books. Charlotte's speciality is photography while I approach artist books more from the standpoint of a writer. Although we have each created many books individually, it's not surprising that some of our best projects have resulted from our collaborative efforts.

"The biggest drawback to creating one-of-a-kind and limited edition artist books is that very few people have the opportunity to see your work. What I envisioned with this book is the chance to collect some of my favorite poems and pair them with an image or two from their respective artist book. I hope that what appears on these pages will offer a glimpse into our creative processes as well as inspire you to create some books of your own."
